An NVR works only with network based cameras. So remember a DVR works with analogue cameras. and an NVR works with network cameras only. In this article, I will be looking only at NVR based systems. This is because DVR based analogue systems are on their way out, they simply cannot compete with the quality and convenience of network cameras and NVRs.
